I cried when I read this. We had a parent totally remove Harry Potter from our school last year, and in hindsight I wish I'd been quick enough to have shoved The Wizard of Oz up her ass.

He was the narrator of a documentary called "Corridor of Shame" which was about kids in the poorest parts of South Carolina (along I-95) who have to go to school in classrooms that don't have heat, that are condemned, that have bat droppings falling through the ceiling while they're trying to learn. It is amazing. It is also about my elementary and high schools.
Thanks for posting it! I probably would have missed it otherwise.
Oh Country, I am so disturbed by this. My book-burning, bible-thumping aunt has already been on the Harry Potter crusade started by her church, an electric guitar picking, fold out chairs, metal building in St. Florain. I did shove, Wizard of Oz, Lion, Witch & The Wardrobe, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Snow White, etc. up her ass for all the good it did. Then I called her Hitler and walked away.
It can in rural areas of the United States, where churches have more power than local governments.
